For Troy Berg, founder of Berg Custom Builders, construction is more than a profession—it’s a lifelong calling. With 38 years of experience, Troy's journey in construction began at the age of 13, working alongside his father in the family business. Today, he continues to build not just homes but also a legacy of craftsmanship and integrity..

A graduate of Cloquet High School, Troy went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Bemidji State University, specializing in construction and manufacturing technology. After gaining experience managing commercial projects in the Twin Cities, Troy returned to his hometown to partner with his father before establishing Berg Custom Builders in 2012.

In the early years, Troy partnered with area builders like Art Wojtysiak, dividing their focus between remodeling projects and new home construction. Now, Troy operates Troy Berg Construction, managing everything from payroll and project bids to material purchasing and job trailer organization for his six-employee team. With the launch of A Plus Builders in 2018, a collaborative venture with partners Josh and Jonathan, Troy has expanded his impact on the local construction scene. He is also passing his skills to his sons, ensuring the family tradition continues.

I absolutely love what I do.”
